South32's ESD Portal, Intsika, is one of four intitiatives within the South32 Enterprise and Supplier Development [ESD] Programme.
South32 Intsika helps you in the following ways:
- Increase your online presence by creating your own business profile and mini-website
- Get information on South32 business opportunities including criteria, timelines, and application process
- Access and apply to business opportunities posted by other companies
- Increase your business network by connecting to other companies in the mining and construction sector
- Apply for the South32 Intsika programme
Supplier Development
If your business successfully meets all of the supplier development criteria for small enterprises, you will be selected for the elite Supplier Development Programme.
The Supplier Development programme, is designed for business owners who want to achieve the following outcomes:
- Time: Build a business that allows you more time to focus on growth rather than operations by building the systems and processes that remove the chaos of everyday management.
- Growth:Increasing the number of customers and the value of businesses from your customers through structured business growth activities.
- Cash Flow: Release more cash flow for your growth through creating better information and clear strategies and goals.
- Investment: Create access to finance by building a business that investors will support.

In acknowledgement of the critical role this initiative has already played in creating sustainable businesses and increasing employment in the area,this Centre was officially opened by Dr Zweli Mkhize, the Premier of KZNand Dr Xolani Mkhwanazi, and other dignitaries launched and in operation since 2013. The South32 - KZN Regional Enterprise Development Village is situated adjacent to the Hillside Aluminium Smelter complex in Richards Bay. Significant investment has been made in the Enterprise and Supplier Development Village that comprises around 1,300 square metres and provides "hot desk" areas, offices, training & meeting rooms and workshops constructed and purpose-built to 'green' building standards. These principles were designed to reduce heat loads, maximise natural light and promote the circulation of fresh air. It has energy-efficient air-conditioning and lighting, water efficient plumbing fittings and water harvesting technology in place. The Enterprise and Supplier Development Village demonstrates yet another and our continued commitment, not only to the community of Richards Bay and the province of KwaZulu Natal, but to the entire country.

The South32 Meyerton Incubator is located at Samancor South 32, KCC (South32 Tushiyah Meyerton Incubator), Gedeelteplaas, Meyerton. The Incubator was established to support and empower Small Medium Enterprises by providing business support services including training and mentoring The Incubator also focuses on empowering youth wanting to start businesses through personal productivity skills, business management skills and business start-up. This incubator is currently only being used by SMEs that are part of the South32 ESD programme and provides these SMEs with office space on an ad hoc basis, access to a boardroom, internet access as well as printing facilities.

This was very well received and the participants are happy with the RFQ’s that have come about as a result of the event held.
